Report for December 2007

December was a little more stable than recent months, and the FTSE100 at the year-end was up 2% at 6477 and our Unit Value was up 2% at 111.5. Our portfolio is now worth £17,171 and the total value of our assets is £20,986.

Half of our holdings grew in value, with WPP and Reuters both rising by 7%. The others fell slightly with BHP Billiton, our star performer, falling the most at 4% [they are making a hostile bid for Rio Tinto]. Our Unit Trusts gained 4%.

Speedy Hire has fallen by a further 3% this month and now stands 31% less than it did at the AGM in August. I will sell this stock this week unless I am persuaded otherwise.
